The Starting Point: Radical Presence
Healing
Alignment
Contentment
Growth
Success
Clarity
Authenticity
Confidence
If you’re anything like me, this list elicits a full-body “Yes, please!”
These are the qualities so many of us are striving to intentionally cultivate. They're the reason clients seek life coaching—to experience deeper healing, sustainable change, meaningful success, and true confidence. And if you're reading this Journal and are a part of this community, I imagine at least one (if not several) of these are on your list as well.
While the process and pathway to these qualities and attributes will be unique to each person, the starting point is always the same:
Radical Presence
Radical presence is the awareness of what is, right now. It's an acknowledgement of what is happening in this present moment—including your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and circumstances—without any judgement and without indulging in the immediate urge to fix, change, or escape them.
It’s a complete surrender to what is, even while wanting and holding a vision for what could be.
Radical presence is powerful, not passive. It’s the foundation beneath every meaningful life attribute we desire.
Every breakthrough, transformation, or meaningful forward movement begins with first acknowledging what is true in this moment.
These things don't develop while resisting, avoiding, or denying our current reality.
The qualities and outcomes we desire emerge from awareness, not from constant chaos, no matter how productive that chaos may look on the outside.
Choosing presence does not mean abandoning your goals, complacency, or settling for what is “ok”. It means grounding yourself in the truth of this moment before making any attempt to change it. From this grounded place, you are in a position of power to commit to intentional forward movement. This is where intuition speaks, and clarity emerges.
We live in a world that is forever pulling our attention in multiple directions at once. When attention and awareness are constantly hijacked, we slowly lose access to our inner compass.
Without presence, we don't design our lives—we react to them. Our awareness becomes limited to what our distractions are feeding us, and our lives become shaped by those distractions.
This week’s Journal is intentionally brief. Life moves quickly and our attention is constantly fragmented. Let radical presence be the reset.
