“Just Tell Me What to Do”
“Just tell me what to do.”
This was the question that played on repeat in my mind during many of my early sessions when I first began working with a life coach. I wanted someone else to give me clear instructions that would lead me directly to the outcomes I desired. I didn’t trust myself or my ability to make the “right” decision, and I believed a coach would give me all the right answers.
Working with a life coach did give me all the answers, but not in the way I expected. Instead of being told what to do, I learned how to cultivate the the clarity I was searching for.
One of the most powerful qualities developed within a coaching relationship is clarity. But clarity isn’t something that can be handed over as a quick solution to a relentless question. This precious quality is uniquely crafted over time through awareness, presence, and deepening the relationship with your intuition.
Your intuition is always present.
It’s steady.
It’s calm.
It’s grounded.
But it often gets silenced by the voice of fear.
Fear screams loud.
It rushes.
It demands immediate reaction.
Intuition, on the other hand, speaks quietly and patiently.
Learning to distinguish between these two voices, and choosing to consistently listen to your inner voice of intuition, is the key to making decisions with true clarity.
When you live in alignment with your authentic self, trusting your intuition becomes natural. It becomes your inner guide This voice is rooted in your core values. These values shape and support how you live, lead, and show up in your life. Knowing your values and taking action in alignment with them is the foundation for strengthening your intuition.
But how do we actually “hear” our intuition in the first place?
We need space.
White space is essential to be able to hear our intuition. Yet we create incessantly busy lives overflowing with a constant flood of obligations, demands, and endless lists of wants and needs. And in creating such lives, the noise of this endless hustle leaves no room for our most powerful voice to emerge. Intuition doesn’t stand a chance when there is constant “doing”.
White space allows us to simply “be”—unconditionally.
Incorporating white space in our lives requires creating time and space without the demands of action or productivity. It’s in these spaces of seemingly “nothing” that our true, aligned, and authentic voices can finally rise to the surface.
White space gives intuition the quiet calm it needs to be heard.
Habitually slowing down and eliminating the excess “noise” of constant busyness allows us to hear our intuition. And the compounded effect of doing this regularly strengthens this voice, allowing it to grow louder, clearer, and more confident over time.
This is where clarity is born.
If you catch yourself thinking, “Just tell me what to do,” I invite you to take this as a signal to pause.
Slow down.
Create white space.
Listen.
The clarity you’re seeking is already there, waiting for a chance to be heard.
