Life Truths, Part 2

We all have those days when life gets the best of us—when we feel like nothing is going our way, we don’t feel like doing the things we know are good for us, and our best intentions unravel very quickly.

I often get asked what I turn to as a life coach to keep myself going. My first go-to is my operating system. These are the basics that build the foundation of my life, and that I can return to for a reset whenever I need one.

I also have some life truths that I’ve collected over the years that remind me of who I am, what’s important to me, and why I choose to live the life I do. Today I am sharing eight of them—one for each of those challenging days when you need it most.

On the days when I feel like I’m not doing enough:

“The day you were born is the day G-d decided that the world could not exist without you.” — Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

Your worthiness does not come from what you do or what you possess. Your worth is inherent in who you are—needing no proof, no validation, and no justification.

On the days when I feel disconnected or lost:

“Don’t set yourself on fire trying to keep others warm.”— Penny Reid

Burning yourself down for the sake of others is the quietest and most costly form of people pleasing—and ultimately, it does far more harm than the illusion of good it creates.

On the days when I question my purpose and direction:

JOMO > FOMO. You are exactly where you need to be right now—so be here fully. Joy and fulfillment come not from what you’re missing, but from what you’re fully present for.

On the days when my self-judgment and criticism are too loud:

Divorce the story and marry the truth. Our thoughts, and the stories we create with them, are not truths. Question them. Our minds are expert storytellers, not truth-tellers. And the stories we create, especially in our hardest moments, rarely give us the whole picture.

On the days when I feel there is too much to do and I’ll never manage it all:

Alignment is remembering who you were before the world made you doubt yourself. When you feel overwhelmed, it is rarely a time management problem—it is an alignment problem. Come back to your core values, your priorities, and your why, and the rest will begin to fall into place.

On the days when I don’t want to work out:

Don’t half-ass it. It’s either a 100% hell yes, or it’s a no. Going in half-hearted will never give you the full results you're craving.

On the days when I feel old patterns of perfectionism and procrastination creeping in:

Later equals never. There never is, and never will be, a “perfect” time. Do it now. Do it messy. Just do it.

On the days when grief and sadness feel overwhelming:

Life doesn't get easier, you get better.  And isn't that the whole point? Growth, development, understanding, purpose, and eventually wisdom all pour into a better you and a life well lived.

These are the truths I return to time and again. They don’t erase life’s difficulties, but they allow me to meet challenges with more strength, resilience, and grace.

Save these for those days when you need an extra boost.

I’d love to hear from you if any of these spoke to you, or if you have your own life truths you lean into and want to share.
